Portadown FC has secured British Supplements as its new official stadium naming rights partner in a four-year deal announced on Monday. The agreement will see Shamrock Park officially renamed British Supplements Shamrock Park, with the club's historic home ground retaining its core identity.
Chairman David Jameson confirmed the partnership, which arrives as Portadown handle a challenging Premiership campaign. The club currently occupies 12th place in the standings with eight points from 14 matches, having scored 11 goals and conceded 24. Their next opportunity to improve that position comes on Saturday at home against eighth-placed Ballymena United.
"We are absolutely delighted to welcome British Supplements as our Official Stadium Naming Rights Partner," said Jameson. He described the arrangement as a substantial commitment that provides greater financial stability for the club's operations, which include men's and women's senior teams and a youth academy.
Local roots and anniversary
The partnership carries a strong local connection. British Supplements is a UK-based health and wellness company owned by Chris Boyle, a former Portadown player. The business was founded on Thomas Street in the town and now operates from a purpose-built facility in nearby Gilford. The deal coincides with Shamrock Park celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, while the club itself was founded in 1887.
This injection of support is timely given the team's recent form, which shows one win, one draw, and three defeats in their last five league outings. They suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Larne last Friday, a result that extended a difficult run. That loss to Larne on Friday 30 October was their third consecutive defeat, following a 1-2 home loss to Linfield on Saturday 23 October and a 0-2 home defeat to Cliftonville FC on Tuesday 20 October. The team's record of two wins and two draws from 14 games has left them 27 points behind league leaders Coleraine FC. The financial backing from the naming rights deal is seen as key for building a squad capable of climbing the table and aiming for a return to European competition.
The club confirmed the deal was secured by Director David Jameson Jr and Club Secretary Kathryn Argue. With the partnership now in place, the focus shifts to the pitch and the visit of Ballymena United to British Supplements Shamrock Park this weekend. The fixture on Saturday 7 November presents a chance to end the losing streak and build on the positive result from Saturday 17 October, a 2-1 away win at Cliftonville FC.
