Portadown claimed a key three points with a dramatic 3-2 win over Bangor FC in the Northern Irish Premiership. Mark Haughey's 78th-minute strike proved the difference in a back-and-forth contest at Shamrock Park on Friday night.
Euan Fyfe and Ryan Neale also found the net for the hosts, who twice came from behind to end a difficult run of form. The result provides a significant boost for a side that had lost its opening six league games of the 2025/26 season.
Match action
Bangor took an early lead through Ben Cushnie after 14 minutes, but Portadown responded well. Fyfe levelled the score at 1-1 with a finish after 35 minutes, and Neale then put the home side ahead for the first time right on the stroke of half-time.
The visitors hit back quickly after the restart, with Lee Hassin equalising just five minutes into the second period. The game remained finely balanced until Haughey's late intervention, which secured a much-needed victory for Portadown.
Looking ahead
The win moves Portadown off the bottom of the table, though they remain in a challenging position. Their next Premiership fixture is a home match against Carrick Rangers on 19 December.
Following the match, the club's media team highlighted the character shown by the players to grind out the result.
